Welcome
A little about me
I am an evolutionary biologist, interested in the origin of eukaryotes and the importance of symbiosis.
Recent NewsMy tenure in Dr. Charles Delwiche's lab in the Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics Department at the University of Maryland has ended. However, I have begun a new position at the FDA/CFSAN branch where I will not only continue much of my protistology work, but will also examine chloroplast genomes of food and drug-related plants.

Current Research
I have recently begun a second Postdoc position at the FDA/CFSAN branch, working with Dr. Sara Handy, where I am examining chloroplast genomes of numerous food and drug-related plants. Additionally, I am continuing my work on understanding the phylogenetic relationships between species of Gambierdiscus and determining if transcript abundance changes depending on toxin levels produced by different species at different growth stages.
